You can search this site by typing in the box at the top of the sidebar on the left. It will not take you elsewhere on the internet. Links listed under Other Sites are clickable and will take you away from this site. The search results are not perfect, but hopefully this will help you locate the books and other info you are trying to find.

How to QUALIFY for Reading Program Plans

PLAN I - Read 5 books per year
• One book from each category: Education for Mission, Leadership Development, Nurturing for Community, Social Action and Spiritual Growth.
• Selections can be from the last 5 years reading lists if not included in previous reports (including youth titles).
• Regular reading of Response magazine.

PLAN II - Read 10 books per year
• Two books from each category: Education for Mission, Leadership Development, Nurturing for Community, Social Action and Spiritual Growth.
• Selections can be from the last 5 years reading lists if not included in previous reports (including youth titles).
• Regular reading of Response and New World Outlook magazines.

PLAN III - Read 15 books per year
• Two books from each category: Education for Mission, Leadership Development, Nurturing for Community, Social Action and Spiritual Growth.
• PLUS 5 additional books from any category.
• Selections can be from the last 5 years reading lists if not included in previous reports (including youth and children’s titles).
• Regular reading of Response and New World Outlook magazines.

PLAN IV - Read 20 books per year
• Two books from each category: Education for Mission, Leadership Development, Nurturing for Community, Social Action and Spiritual Growth.
• PLUS 10 additional books from any category.
• Selections can be from the last 5 years reading lists if not included in previous reports (including youth and children’s titles).
• Regular reading of Response and New World Outlook magazines.

BONUS BOOKS count either as two books in the same category or as one book in each of two categories.

MISSION STUDIES can be read for credit in the following categories:
• Spiritual Growth study for Spiritual Growth
• Geographic study for Education for Mission
• Issue study for Social Action

RESPONSE MAGAZINE is the official magazine of United Methodist Women. Regular reading of Response is part of all four reading plans.

NEW WORLD OUTLOOK is the Mission magazine of the United Methodist Church. Regular reading of New World Outlook is included for Plans II, III, and IV.

You can subscribe to these magazines if you wish to have your own copies. However, that isn't necessary to complete this part of your Reading Plan. A limited number of articles from the current issues of each magazine can be accessed at their websites. These magazines are also available in the church library.

How to REPORT Your Plan Completion
When you have read the required number of books and magazines, submit your report to the Secretary of Program Resources. Deadline for reporting is the end of December. A printable form is available here: REPORT FORM

How to use LIBRARY THING cataloging site for Reading Program Books

How to use GOOGLE BOOKS cataloging site for Reading Program Books
Lists for 2006-2012. No longer updated.

How to find books on AMAZON shopping site
Listmania! pages have up to 40 Reading Program books per list by year. Click on a book title to see a page with a description and reader reviews. Many of the books will open a sample for you to browse a few pages online. Click on the cover image if there is a "Look Inside" label on it.

How to find books at the MISSION RESOURCES e-Store
Hover your curser over the "Reading Program" box in the sidebar and select one of the qualifying years from the drop down menu. A screen will open with all books for that year, or you can select one of the categories from the drop down menu.
